Launch: IV El Barco de Vapor CARIBE Award
(San Juan, Puerto Rico; Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic; Havana, Cuba; Friday, August 12, 2022, 7:00 AM local time).
Dear authors from Cuba, Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republic:
We are delighted to announce the call for entries for the fourth edition of the prestigious El Barco de Vapor CARIBE Award. Through the SM Foundation and in conjunction with SM Dominican Republic, we present this contest seeking high-quality works with cultural, social, and human values that foster a love for reading.
Participants must use pseudonyms to compete for the Award, which carries a prize of $15,000 (fifteen thousand) US dollars. Furthermore, the Award includes the editing and publication of the work under SM’s legendary El Barco de Vapor collection.
We will feature a diverse jury, composed of Hispanic Caribbean specialists in literature, pedagogy, and education, who will deliberate and grant the single, indivisible, and unappealable Prize.
The call for entries will close on Monday, December 12, 2022, at five o'clock in the afternoon (5:00 PM), Puerto Rico time. The decision will be made during the first semester of 2023 and will be communicated primarily and expressly to the winner before being made public.
To participate, you must submit your application via our ONLINE REGISTRATION, which can be accessed through the SM Puerto Rico or SM Dominican Republic portals. Participation implies the acceptance of the OFFICIAL RULES hosted there.
Without further ado, we look forward to your entries!
