Children's and Young Adult Literature

Our objective and unwavering commitment is to edit, curate, and publish high-quality, playful works of children's and young adult literature for readers between the ages of 3 and 18 that invite our children and youth to fall in love with reading. We believe in books that transmit human, social, and cultural values that also awaken in readers a desire for care and the common good. We feature the El Barco de Vapor collection, the legendary label that has accompanied Spanish-speaking readers since 1978, covering five series divided by age:
Pirates Series (4-5 years old)
White Series (6-8 years old)
Blue Series (8-10 years old)
Orange Series (10-12 years old)
Red Series (12-14 years old)
We also have our Gran Angular collection for young people between 13 and 18 years old, in addition to publishing books outside of specific collections. Our catalog also hosts a countless number of Puerto Rican authors and illustrators who not only promote reading but also celebrate our lexicon and culture, alongside renowned international authors. Since 2019, together with SM Dominican Republic, we have organized the prestigious literary contest El Premio Barco de Vapor Caribe, where hundreds of original and unpublished works by authors from Puerto Rico, Cuba, and the Dominican Republic are submitted and compete annually. Previously, we held the El Barco de Vapor Children's Literature Prize, which focused solely on Puerto Rican authors.
